Handmade's Tale / Vogue October 2008
behind the beautiful, complex, delicate, extravagant, and artful creations from some of the most famous fashion houses are the magical fingers of tailors.
with fashion emerging more and more with the internet, there are many youtube videos that show the behind the scenes of making a particular haute couture you saw on the runway. and i get finger cramps and a headache just watching these skilled people..! i think they are the true unsung heroes of fashion.

La Faim / Book Moda Haute Couture SS 2011
this editorial is from an italian fashion magazine called 'book moda haute couture.'
this magazine, apparently, contains the most comprehensive collection of haute couture fashion from paris, london, milan, barcelona, madrid, new york, tokyo, and more.

i really liked this editorial with all the beautiful haute couture creations.
as much as i enjoy seeing the current fashion designs, i really love the past designs of the 90s and early 2000s.
to me, for some reasons, designs of this particular period triumphs that of the present.

Givenchy Spring / Summer Couture 1997
a little trip down the memory lane...
below are precious pictures of givenchy spring/summer's haute couture show in 1997!
what's more, this was back when the late alexander mcqueen was the designer of the house. you can really see the hands and imagination of a genius behind those clothes. although the designs are from more than a decade ago, you can pretty much wear any of the pieces and be as stylish and chic as (if not more so) if you were to wear something from current collections.
i absolutely love the references to grecian myths/ancient greece and the golden corsets are amazing.

Giambattista Valli Fall Couture 2011
among the six couture shows that have happened this week (alexis mabille, anne valerie hash, armani prive, bouchra jarrar, christian dior, and giambattista valli), i liked valli's collection the most. this was valli's first couture show and he did a fine job of accomplishing intricacy and drama that a couture show requires. with fringed feathers, furs, sequins, ruffles, and vivid colors there were plenty of 'fun' element but also an elegant formality apparent in the designs.

Edible Design
photographed by fulvio bonavia, the below photos are part of his book titled a matter of taste.
these are gastronomy meets haute couture creations. how whimsical! if i were to carry the blackberry chanel bag, it would disappear halfway through my outing because i would pluck all the berries and eat them! as for the louboutin bootie, it seriously looks like the real shoe...
