Hermes: Making Of

Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2011

i love mcqueen so it's hard not to be biased...
but i must say that the silhouettes are starting to look quiet similar for the past three seasons.
nonetheless, i love the structured designs and the lace-up leather boots are to die for.

Mi Vida Logo / Vogue Japan November 2011

fun fashion logo headpieces!
as soon as i saw "vogue japan" and the headpieces, i immediately thought of anna dello russo since she's a fan of head wear. and lo and behold, this editorial was styled by anna herself.
i think the dior headpiece is chic and beautiful. note the little birds perched on the letters.

Valentino Spring RTW 2012

another surprise for me.
valentino seemed to be getting too much into the whole lace thing for the past 2 years. this season's focus was also on lace but there were more variety and interesting fabrics that we haven't seen from valentino. i really liked the collection. i think i've had enough of the really pretty lace dress. i like that these pieces were more easy and relaxed.

Stella McCartney Spring RTW 2012

apparently stella mccartney's sales went up by more 34%. and this is of no surprise since the polka-dot dresses from last season was all over magazine editorials and had several celebrities flaunting their figures in the sexy dress.
this collection also got good reviews so mccartney probably has not much to worry about. i thought there were some great pieces and i really liked that she did lots of separates.

Chanel Spring RTW 2012

Alexander McQueen Spring RTW 2012

there's no doubt that this collection had plenty of detail and intricacy. and the clothes had a definite resonance to alexander mcqueen's past designs. i personally didn't like this collection as much as i did the previous ones but some of the dresses and leather pieces were absolutely gorgeous.

Snejana Onopka for Pierre Balmain Spring 2012 Collection

ah~ the much-waited balmain's second line, pierre balmain, is here.
here we have its spring 2012 collection and seeing from the photos, it seems like balmain's famous rock-and-roll element is still present. the apparel hits stores and online retailers starting this december so start saving money for some holiday shopping!

Givenchy Spring RTW 2012

i love givenchy and the house's previous collections, whether couture or ready-to-wear, were all so amazing. this collection was, as expected, great and got great reviews from the fashion people. however, i must confess that i wasn't completely impressed. nonetheless, impeccable tailoring and just because it's givenchy...still awesome.

Balenciaga Spring RTW 2012

ahhhh amazing colors... stellar, stellar collection! yea i know everybody loved this collection and the whole benches breaking made headlines but the clothes....very cool.

Lanvin Spring RTW 2012

lanvin is known for The Dress but this season alber elbaz tackled separates as well.
still, there were plenty of dresses, both work-friendly and night-time-glitz-appropriate, for the ladies.

Balmain Spring RTW 2012

this was the first runway collection sans christophe decarnin who abruptly left balmain in february.
the designer behind balmain now is a young (25 years old) designer named olivier rousteing. style.com gave a cautious review of his spring 2012 collection but i think it was fabulous and a change that i believe will do the design house much good. there were no more of decarnin's signature "trash look." now, it's much more clean (no more holes in the shirt, pants, and skirts) and the focus is rightly on the details. and the classic balmain factor is still there in the short, short skirts and dresses. i think rousteing is off to a great start! oh and now people could probably understand more why balmain clothes cost what they cost cuz you know before...a leather skirt that barely covered your butt was a whooping 3 grand.

Isabel Marant Spring RTW 2012

isabel marant knows how to satiate the cravings of her customer! this collection was yet another success following her previous 3 seasons. there were plenty of jeans, which is a marant thing, that were dyed, fringed, printed, and decorated to complete one's day wear! and the dresses were sexy and young to spark your nightime looks. great, great collection.

Ann Demeulemeester Spring RTW 2012

i hadn't paid much attention to ann demeulemeester for no particular reason.
without much thought i had considered the brand too androgynous and couldn't really picture myself wearing its clothes.
well...wrong. but i do feel that ann demeulemeester's clothes look best on tall people. a lot of her clothes (from quickly scanning her previous seasons' work) have structure and play with lengths and proportions. these elements are best pulled off by women with some height and leaness to them.
anyway, there were some major drapery and fringe work here. the models looked like a very cool and chic hybrid of gypsies and stranded pirates!
