Marc Jacobs Fall 2012
select pieces from marc jacobs fall 2012
good to see marc jacobs (after a few baffling seasons, whether mj or lv label...) returning to his old great designer self.
underneath all the good crazy that's going on, there seems to be great individual pieces.

Making of Marc Jacobs Handbags
i'm getting really hooked on "making of" designer goods videos lately! it's interesting and fascinating to watch how these luxury products are made. and it's definitely making me appreciate the products more and understand the high prices that they demand.
i never warmed up to the marc jacobs stam bag (which is shown in the video) because in the mid-2000s, it seemed like everyone had it. so, to me, it didn't have the exclusive/unique appeal that luxury products have. but after seeing this video, i'm just amazed at how much detail, time, and human effort are invested in one bag.

Strict / Interview September 2011
sort of a s&m-ish editorial with the harness and laced up boots and bodice.
at first, i didn't really like this editorial but the more i looked at it i could appreciate it more. i've seen all of the clothes in this editorial presented in at least one other fashion magazine. for instance, the marc jacob outfit in the fourth picture and the stella mccartney dress in the last picture are usually shown in the manner of sweet and feminine. i like that here, we can see it in a more masculine and aggressive way. fashion is about multiple perspectives any way, right?

High Definition / Vogue US March 2008
i remember seeing this editorial back in 2008 and absolutely loving it. i even taped these on my dorm room wall to liven it up a little. to me, designers seemed to have a good run for spring 2008. to name a few...marc jacobs had come up with cool heel-less pumps to match the equally interestingly-cut dresses, marni was excelling in its unique color schemes and accessories, and dries van noten had beautiful floral print dresses mixed in fresh hues. this period was also the time when i saw lots of craig mcdean's works and really liked them.
